The latest evolution of my 3D portrait series Decentral Eyes is getting physical. Always exploring the illusion of 3D depth, this work invites the viewer to customize the work and explore the endless options of how to visualize the pieces of the Jack Dorsey's face. The idea of a re-envisioning identity, just like Jack created with Twitter, the work will be on display at B25 and photos will be taken throughout the event with different people's custom layouts. This is a living artwork and the images will be integrated into a blockchain provenance token that will continue to show the life of the artwork. The viewer is now the collaborator. The art is meant to be touched.
The magnetic portrait was a portrait of Warren Buffett that integrated USD from my Filthy Fiat project. The physical artwork + ordinal sold at Christies’s in December 2024.
Jack Dorsey - Decentral Eyes magnetic portrait is an opportunity to reconstruct identity and value. Dorsey’s Twitter created an opportunity for people to change how they appeared in a digital realm. He is also a massive proponent for Bitcoin which is a decentralized system (same as the face pieces) that come together to make a whole. Building financial alternatives by reconstructing the definition of value is a core theme embedded into this series.
The digital counterpart to the physical is a 1/1 recursive ordinal. The work takes on a mind of its own, refreshing every 3 seconds with randomized portrait configurations. The DADA vibes are alive as the face contorts and changes constantly. The work is created as a 360 3D piece that the viewer can rotate in all directions to see the depth effects.
