SCⱯRCE and Asanoha team up to raise sats for Samourai

On April 24, 2024, at Bitcoin Block 840692, the United States Department of Justice announced the arrest of Samourai Wallet developers, Keonne Rodriguez and William (Bill) Lonergan Hill. They were taken into custody for the "crime" of building non-custodial privacy tools.

In November 2025, the developers were sentenced in the Southern District of New York. Keonne was sentenced to 5 years in federal prison and Bill sentenced to 4 years. They spent Thanksgiving and Christmas in jail.

The stylized Samourai logo was designed by Asanoha and Genjos, two of the lead artists at Based Trading Cards. It was originally created for the Bitcoin Magazine Freedom Edition set of cards. The artwork is featured on one of the 6 cards from the set, as well as on the wrapper of all cards in the set. It is also featured as a full page image in the Free Samourai article in the Freedom Issue of Bitcoin Magazine, featuring Ross Ulbricht on the front cover. Each card is a rare collectible, only 963 of each exist. Each single card pack was randomly paired with every copy of the highly anticipated Bitcoin Magazine Freedom Issue delivered directly to subscribers.
