Bitcoin and the U.S. Dollar are engaged in a battle for supremacy; the incumbent USD versus the nascent contender Bitcoin to determine which will remain or become Humanity’s global reserve currency. The BTC/USD price chart is the ongoing history of this battle.
Epoch 3 in the Bitcoin Epoch Series depicts the BTC/USD logarithmic price chart for the period, or "epoch", leading up to the third Bitcoin block reward halving, in white on a black background. Overlaid on top of this epoch is the price chart for the previous epoch, Epoch 2, etched with Dustin D. Trammell’s personal logo in light greens on dark green. Overlaid upon the second epoch is Epoch 1, etched with the Bitcoin Genesis block quote in white on orange. The piece is framed with built-in framing in black with a gray backing behind the artwork. The name of the piece and artist signature with production year are etched in white directly into the frame.
Bitcoin Epoch Series
The Bitcoin Epoch Series is an extremely low-time-preference open-ended series of artistic works created by Dustin D. Trammell. Each work depicts a BTC/USD logarithmic price chart for each Bitcoin block reward halving period, or, “epoch”, laid underneath all the previous epochs that have come before it. Because a Bitcoin block reward halving only happens every four years, a new piece in the series is only created every four years. Each piece is unique and there will only ever be one produced for each epoch. Dustin intends to continue creating one piece per newly completed epoch until either the U.S. Dollar dies and there is no more chart, or he does, whichever happens first.
In each piece, the epoch represented in the name of the piece is depicted in white on a black background. Each epoch that has come before it is laid on top of it in reverse order such that the first epoch is always the foremost layer. Each epoch other than the named epoch in white is colored and etched according to the preferences of the owner of the previous piece in the series. When a new Bitcoin halving occurs, the current owner of the most recent piece in the series may collaborate with Dustin to choose the color and etching in the next piece being created for the epoch represented by the piece that they own, allowing the owners of the art to influence the design of all future pieces in the series.
The historical epochs and related collaborative designs that have been established thus far are:
Epoch 1: Satoshi Nakamoto, Bitcoin Genesis block quote, in white on orange.
Epoch 2: Dustin D. Trammell, Personal Logo, in light greens on dark green.
Epoch 3: You?
Each piece is framed with built-in framing in black with a gray backing behind the artwork. The name of the piece and artist signature with production year are etched in white directly into the frame.
All pieces come with a digital Certificate of Authenticity provided by VerisArt.
